AI Joins 29 Groups to Promote Real Estate Careers

The Appraisal Institute on July 13 joined 29 real estate industry organizations, representing more than 10 million jobs, in announcing a ground-breaking collaboration to highlight the diverse career paths within the real estate sector.

The first initiative of this collaboration is a new all-inclusive website entitled Careers Building Communities, which allows students, educators, career changers and other stakeholders to navigate through the scores of career paths across all sectors of real estate.

AI Opposes Effort to Reduce Risk Management for SBA Loans

The Appraisal Institute on July 20 announced its opposition to proposed federal legislation that would reduce the requirements for appraisals in major Small Business Administration loan programs.

In its letter to Congress, the Appraisal Institute objected to the provisions of H.R. 6347, the 7(a) Real Estate Appraisal Harmonization Act, and H.R. 6348, the Small Business Access to Capital and Efficiency Act, both of which would adjust upward the real estate appraisal thresholds for SBA loan programs.

Appraisal Institute Contributes at Major Industry Event

In keeping with the Appraisal Institute’s commitment to convey its thought leadership to real estate professionals and others, President-Elect Stephen Wagner, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, participated in a roundtable discussion at the National Association of Realtors Appraisal Summit on July 18 in Washington, D.C., on various topics of interest to real estate and valuation professionals.

Appraisal Institute Media Coverage Seen by Nearly 2 Billion

Media coverage of the Appraisal Institute and its professionals was potentially read, heard or seen nearly 2 billion times in the first half of 2018, the Appraisal Institute announced July 25.

A new video with highlights of the media coverage from January through June 2018 is available on the Appraisal Institute’s YouTube channel.

AI and its individuals appeared in 2,093 stories that ran in 700 unique media outlets. The coverage was potentially read, heard or seen 1,650,132,949 times and had a publicity value of $3,070,269, according to a proprietary formula used by a third-party vendor.
