AI Seeks Proposals for 2015 Annual Meeting Educational Sessions

The Appraisal Institute is seeking proposals by December 31 for panel sessions and presentations for its 2015 Annual Meeting. AI Connect is looking for highly skilled speakers who can address issues and topics of interest to the valuation profession. All panels/presentations will be assigned to one or more of the following tracks:

  • Commercial
  • Residential
  • General
  • Institutional Client
  • Attorney Client

AI Enhances Thought Leadership, Attends Key Industry Events

In keeping with the Appraisal Institute’s commitment to convey its thought leadership to valuation professionals and others interested in appraisal, I attended the Pension Real Estate Association Annual Conference, September 30-October 2, in Los Angeles. Immediate Past President Rick Borges, MAI, SRA, AI-RRS, attended the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board meeting October 2 in Washington, D.C. Rick also spoke at the Administration and Appraisal of National Real Estate Institute Meeting, October 7, in Mexico City.

I was joined by President-Elect Lance Coyle, MAI, SRA, Vice President Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, and Chief Executive Officer Fred Grubbe, MBA, CAE, at Expo Real, October 6-8, in Munich, which drew nearly 37,000 attendees from almost 75 countries. We also had the opportunity to meet with AI’s German professionals. Lance, Scott and I also travelled to Asia, October 12-20, where we spoke at the Japanese Association of Real Estate Appraisers Meeting in Tokyo. Our trip also included stops in Beijing and Shanghai, where we met with the Shanghai Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, Shanghai Real Estate Valuers Association, China Association of Appraisers and AI Chinese and Japanese professionals. Scott also met, October 22-24, with the World Association of Valuation Organizations and China Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and Agents. Additionally, Lance, Fred and I attended The European Group of Valuers’ Associations Fall Meeting, October 23-25, in Riga, Latvia, where Lance and I presented to nearly 100 attendees.

Fred attended the International Valuation Standards Council Meeting, October 20-24, in Toronto. Rick attended the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials Fall Conference, October 18-21, in Washington, D.C., and joined me at the IRS Valuation Summit, October 21, hosted by AI’s Southern California and Washington, DC, Metropolitan Chapters. Rick additionally spoke at the Greenbuild Conference & Expo hosted by the U.S. Green Building Council, October 23, in New Orleans. I attended the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries Fall Conference, October 28-30, in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I addressed their Valuation Committee, while Lance and Scott are currently attending the Federation of Valuers, AC Congress in Irapuato, Mexico. Finally, Fred and I are attending The Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees’ Fall Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida.
