Appraisal Institute Honors August Volunteers of Distinction

vod_headertodayThe Appraisal Institute has announced its “Volunteer of Distinction” honorees for August: Barry J. Alperin, MAI, of Region VII (Southern California Chapter); Robin Amorin, MAI, of Region VIII (Austin Chapter) and G. Daniel Green, MAI, SRA, of Region X (Florida Gulf Coast Chapter).

The Appraisal Institute’s member recognition program honors members for their volunteer service to the Appraisal Institute, to the real estate valuation profession and to their local communities. Each month, the Appraisal Institute recognizes one honoree in each region as a Volunteer of Distinction.

Region VII consists of Arizona, Hawaii, Southern California and Southern Nevada. Region VIII consists of New Mexico and Texas. Region X consists of Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

volunteer_3Alperin served as regional representative of the Southern California Chapter in 2003-04, 2006-07 and 2009-10 and as president in 2002.For the Appraisal Institute’s predecessor organizations, he was admissions chair-general and second vice president of the former Pacific Chapter in 2000, president in 1998 and vice president in 1997. He was vice president of the former Los Angeles Chapter in 1996 and president and secretary of the former Inland Southern California Chapter in 1995. He served for several years as a regional director of the Appraisal Institute, as a speaker at multiregional meetings and on numerous committees. He became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 1973 and received his MAI designation in 1992.

Amorin sits on the Appraisal Institute’s Admissions and Designation Qualifications Committee. She was member-at-large of the Diversity Committee from 2010-11 and vice chair in 2011, a member of the Leadership Development Advisory Council from 2008-09 and vice chair in 2012; she will serve as chair in 2013. She was Education Committee chair of the South Carolina Chapter from 2008-09, and alternate regional representative in 2008. She became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 2003 and received her MAI designation in 2009.

Green will serve as alternate regional representative of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter in 2013. He was president and regional representative of the former Northwest Florida Chapter in 2011, vice president and alternate regional representative in 2010, vice president in 2009, secretary in 2008 and served on various committees over the years. He also was chair of the ad hoc committee that helped merge the former Northwest Florida and West Coast Florida Chapters. He became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 1990 and received his MAI designation in 1993.

Appraisal Institute members may nominate members by submitting the nomination form to their chapter’s executive director or president. Each region’s honorees then are chosen by their regional executive director in conjunction with the region’s chair and vice chair.
