If you haven’t had the opportunity to see the Appraisal Institute’s response to The Appraisal Foundation’s “Legislative Alert,” I encourage you to read it.

AI Addresses The Appraisal Foundation’s Letter on Federal Regulations

Earlier this month, you may have received or at least heard of a letter from The Appraisal Foundation titled “Legislative Alert.” This letter contained inaccurate and incomplete information.

The Appraisal Institute has maintained a full-time staff and office in Washington, D.C., for decades. With the guidance and direction of the Board and the Government Relations Committee, AI consistently protects the interests of not just AI professionals, but all valuation professionals, at the state and federal government levels.

Annual Meeting Registration Opening Next Month

The collective efforts and dedication of our members to the Appraisal Institute and to the valuation profession have made the past year a memorable and worthwhile experience … and I am very grateful to everyone for their commitment to the Appraisal Institute.

Registration for 2013 Annual Meeting

The Appraisal Institute will open registration Jan. 28 for the 2013 Annual Meeting, which will be held July 23-25 in Indianapolis. AI Annual Meeting attendees will experience first-class education and exciting networking options, the opportunity to earn Appraisal Institute CE credit and state credit, and the chance to explore the many sports, shopping, nightlife and other social activities in Indianapolis. Appraisal Institute Launches YouTube Channel

Be sure to check out the Appraisal Institute’s new YouTube channel that launched April 2. YouTube is AI’s latest entry into the social media space, joining the organization’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn sites, along with the “Opinions of Value” blog.

Click here to view the Appraisal Institute’s first YouTube video featuring AI President Sara W. Stephens, MAI, discussing the 2012 Annual Meeting in San Diego.

The creation of the YouTube channel allows AI to continue to interact with its key audiences and to become part of a very active social media platform. Sixty hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute, and more than 4 billion videos are viewed each day. More than 800 million unique users visit YouTube each month, and 100 million people take a social action on YouTube (such as likes, shares and comments) every week.

Be sure to visit often to view Appraisal Institute videos on topics of interest to members, consumers and anyone connected to the real estate valuation profession.

Vietnam POW to Speak at AI Annual Meeting

The Appraisal Institute announced Feb. 20 that former U.S. Navy Captain Charles Plumb, a Vietnam prisoner of war and author, will be the keynote speaker at its 2012 Annual Meeting. The event will take place Aug. 1-3 at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego.

On Plumb’s 75th mission in an F-4 Phantom jet, with only five days before he was to return home from Vietnam, Plumb was shot down, captured, tortured and imprisoned in an 8 foot x 8 foot cell. He spent the next 2,103 days as a prisoner of war.
