AI to Premiere Federal Land Acquisitions Course

The Appraisal Institute will premiere, “Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions: Practical Applications” on April 20 in Chicago, with other offerings currently scheduled around the country.

The update to the “Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions” was released by the Interagency Land Acquisition Conference in December, and is the first update to the standards since 2000.

The Appraisal Institute’s two-day course provides a comprehensive review of the “Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions,” 6th edition, as well as critical instruction to those involved in federal land acquisition valuation assignments.

AI Publishes Book on Rural Property Appraisals

The Appraisal Institute on February 8 published “Rural Property Valuation,” which is the organization’s first textbook in 16 years devoted to the topic of rural property appraisals.

The book provides up-to-date information on the many forces that affect agricultural and ranch properties in the United States, and offers specific data and analytical tools appraisers may use in their daily work.

AI to Unveil Conservation Easements Course

The Appraisal Institute initially will offer “Valuation of Conservation Easements” March 20 in Chicago, in addition to other dates around the country.

“Valuation of Conservation Easements” is an advanced course designed for the appraiser who understands the methodology in the approaches to value and is ready to embark on understanding the intricacies involved in one of the most misunderstood and difficult types of appraisals.

Registration Opens for LDAC; Sponsorship Opportunities Announced

The Appraisal Institute opened registration February 14 for its 2017 Leadership Development and Advisory Council conference, which will take place in Washington, D.C, May 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

LDAC is an innovative approach to valuation leadership development and serves as an incubator of new ideas, while helping to establish an appraiser presence in Congress with a day of lobbying on Capitol Hill. Registered attendees who participate in the complete LDAC program will receive AI CE.

AI Participates In Key Industry Events
In keeping with the Appraisal Institute’s commitment to convey its thought leadership to real estate professionals and others, I was joined by my fellow Executive Committee members for a meeting with the Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisers, February 22, at AI headquarters in Chicago. During the meeting, we discussed the International Valuation Standards 2017, agricultural land, AVMs and several other valuation topics.

Additionally, AI exhibited at the Mortgage Bankers Association CREF/Multifamily Housing Convention & Expo, February 19-22, in San Diego.
