Geospatial Expert to Lead Closing Luncheon
Today’s closing luncheon speaker will be Ed Parsons, a London-based geospatial technologist at Google, who will discuss Google’s mission to organize the world’s information using geography. Parsons maintains links with governments, universities and research and standards organizations involved in the development of geospatial technology.

AI, AIC Honor Annual Award Winners
The Appraisal Institute honored three AI professionals Friday and the Appraisal Institute of Canada inducted three new Fellows during the Presidents’ Gala reception and dinner.
William T. (Ted) Anglyn, MAI, and Donald S. (Don) Boucher Sr., SRA, were honored with the AI Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented to an Appraisal Institute professional who demonstrates high ethical standards; has volunteered several years of service and has contributed to the Appraisal Institute on the international, national, region and/or chapter level; has served his or her community; and has contributed to the appraisal profession for at least 20 years.
Woody R. Fincham, SRA, AI-RRS, was honored with the AI Outstanding Service Award, which is presented to an Appraisal Institute professional who contributed ideas, service hours and dedication to ensure a program or effort is implemented at either the chapter, region, national or international level; is instrumental in the success of the program or effort, which must be far enough along to measure and provide proof of success; and the program or effort must be beneficial to chapters, regions or national or international professionals.
This year’s President’s Award recipients were César Servando Cantú Martinez, MAI, SRA, of Monterrey, Mexico, and Pledger M. (Jody) Bishop III, MAI, SRA, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The President’s Award is presented to an Appraisal Institute professional who is committed to the organization; currently engaged in its activities; an effective spokesperson; a representative at all times; and in touch with both the needs of other AI professionals and the changes that the organization must help its professionals to meet.
Winners of awards presented by the Appraisal Institute Educational Trust were Laurence A. Hirsh, MAI (George L. Schmutz Award); J. Carl Schultz Jr., MAI, SRA (James H. Pritchett Award); Frank E. Harrison, MAI, SRA (Dr. William N. Kinnard Jr. Award); and Michael Tankersley, MAI, SRA, AI-RRS (Y.T. and Louise Lum Award).
The Appraisal Institute of Canada awarded the title of Fellow to Dan Brewer, AACI, P.App; Gregory (Greg) Wilkinson, AACI, P.App; and Charles Hardy, AACI, P.App.
The event concluded with live music from Radio Nova while attendees danced to favorite tunes from the past five decades. A silent auction benefitted Habitat for Humanity.
