The Appraisal Institute has announced its “Volunteer of Distinction” honorees for April: Keith Harper, MAI, of Region VII (Las Vegas Chapter), Melissa Calloway, SRA, of Region IX (Alabama Chapter) and Denise Morales, Associate member, of Region X (South Florida Chapter).
The Appraisal Institute’s member recognition program honors members for their volunteer service to the Appraisal Institute, to the real estate valuation profession and to their local communities. Each month, the Appraisal Institute recognizes one honoree in each region as a Volunteer of Distinction.
Region VII consists of Arizona, Hawaii, Southern California and Southern Nevada. Region IX consists of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Region X consists of Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Harper has served on the Las Vegas Chapter’s Government Relations Committee since 2010, and was chair in 2011. He served on the Nominating Committee in 2010, as president and regional representative in 1995 and vice president in 1994. He became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 1988 and received his MAI designation in 1992.
Calloway serves as the Nominating Committee chair of the Alabama Chapter, as discussion leader on the Appraisal Institute’s Leadership Development and Advisory Council and as a member of the Residential Advisory Work Group. She was president of the Alabama Chapter in 2011, vice president and regional representative in 2010, treasurer and Finance Committee chair in 2009 and secretary in 2008. She also served on the Appraisal Institute’s Leadership Development and Advisory Council from 2009-2011. She became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 1993 and received her SRA designation in 2002.
Morales has served as the Associate Member Committee chair of the South Florida Chapter since 2010, and on the Associate Guidance Committee from 2009-2010. She became a member of the Appraisal Institute in 2007.
Appraisal Institute members may nominate members by submitting the nomination form to their chapter’s executive director or president. Each region’s honorees then are chosen by their regional executive director in conjunction with the region’s chair and vice chair.
